The Illusion of Hedging

It's easy to think we can protect ourselves from risk, uncertainty, exposure. But ignorance is indeed bliss. The truth is that life's incredibly fragile. All facets of life are incredibly fragile. The most fortified business on Earth may seem so hedged that going under is practically impossible - then unexpectedly crumble in a short span. It's tempting to obsess over patching every leak, covering each exposure, shielding oneself with an invisible and invincible robe, but we are always exposed. Life, no matter how serene, is a colosseum- a massive jungle - and the sooner we accept this reality, the sooner we may know the fullest peace of mind.
