R.I.P. Democratic Party

The Democratic Party is dead. Just as the business-as-usual, legacy Republican Party died when Trump was first elected, so, too, the Democratic Party as we have known it died November 2024. It remains unclear what will rise from the ashes - but several things are quite clear. The Democratic Party got out-marketed by its counterparty. In this political duopoly, what led to such market share loss? In no particular order. Excessive virtue signaling. Democrats got too caught-up in trying to have the biggest hearts and squeaky-cleanest characters. It came across as blatantly contrived and unhuman. Low economic IQ. Perception is reality more often than not and in this case, many Trump voters view the Democratic Party as inferior insofar as business acumen is concerned - id est, not being savvy at economics, or business, or finance, or any of that, which is especially detrimental when many Americans are struggling to make ends meet. Vanilla. This party became too basic, too bland, too boring. Trump has a spark or two of insanity - as have the greatest minds and leaders in history - and that spark is why he won again. People crave more of that spark. If the Democratic Party wishes to reclaim what it lost, the brand must stop trying to be so woke and overly sensitive and chill the fuck out without losing the sense of compassion that distinguishes it; it must embrace a reverence for business in the fullest sense; and it must acquire an edge to be less PG and more R - because the human condition is as rated R as it gets.
